The U.S. economy added 245,000 jobs in November, according to NBC and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The unemployment rate was 6.7% in November, and 10.26 million people were counted as unemployed.
Healthcare, construction and manufacturing hiring could be one of the highlights this year, showing strong signs of hiring. In November, healthcare added 46,000 jobs, while construction and manufacturing respectfully added 27,000 jobs each, reflecting the stronger housing market,
Check the unemployment rate in your state.
Most of the healthcare jobs were in physician offices, home health care services and other health practitioners. Nursing care facilities lost jobs.
While construction gained 27,000 jobs, unemployment is still 279,000 below what it was in February before the COVID-19 crisis gutted the U.S. job market.
Manufacturing jobs increased mainly in motor vehicles and parts and plastics and rubber products; however, the job gains are still 599,000 lower than in February.
Overall, COVID-19 has been a significant hit to the U.S. economy and what financial crisis we may face in the future remains to be seen.
Despite jobs not being added at rapid rates, things are slowly headed in the right direction. So, not to sound cliche, but here’s a little advice: stay positive and keep your chin up.
