Tool Crib Attendant

Job Description

Job Summary:

Receives, stores, maintains and issues hand tools, machine tools, cutting tools, and general industrial equipment in contract machining establishment by performing the following duties.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Receive, store, setup, and issue cutting tools, hand tools, fixtures, etc. in a machine shop.
  • Maintain inventory levels within the computer system
  • Setup tools based on Tool list and Setup sheets.
  • Issue tools and assist machinists as they need assistance.
  • Create job boxes for new jobs. Label fixturing and update computer files.
  • Inspect and measure tools for defects and wear, using micrometers, visual and/or vision systems, etc.

Key competencies:

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Knowledge of cutting tools: E.g. endmills, drills, taps, inserts, turning tools, etc.
  • Knowledge of cutting tool geometries, grades, coatings, tool holders, etc.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills
  • Able to work with and communicate with other employees and maintain a positive attitude
  • Grinding experience is a plus

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

  • Lifting, pulling, walking and sitting.
  • Must be able to lift at least 30 pounds

Qualifications:

  • Two to four years’ related experience and/or training
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel Spreadsheet, Inventory software, Internet software and Order processing systems.

Standard 1st shift: Monday thru Thursday, 6:00am-4:30pm
OT Friday 6:00am-2:30pm (When needed)
Salary based on experience and skill level
