Position Summary
We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Alaska Medicaid Healthcare Biller to join our team. The Alaska Medicaid Biller will be responsible for accurately billing and processing medical claims, resolving billing discrepancies and ensuring timely reimbursement from insurance companies.
Responsibilities
- Review and verify the accuracy of patient demographic and insurance information
- Prepare and submit electronic and paper claims to insurance companies
- Follow up on unpaid and denied claims, and appear, if necessary
- Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers to resolve billing issues
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements
- Stay updated on changes in billing and coding regulations
Reports to: Business Office Manager
Qualifications and Education
- Proven current experience as an Alaska Medicaid Hosptial and Clinic Biller is required
- Knowledge of medical billing software and electronic billing systems
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, CPT and ICD-10 coding
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Certification of medical billing and coding is preferred
Working Conditions
This position is typically performed in an office setting within a healthcare facility. Remote work is a consideration.
