Position
Cook 1, Cook 2 and Cook 3

Description
At PMC, our associates are the most valuable asset. Each associate provides a service that directly or indirectly affects patients, families, other team members and the public. We strive to excel in providing the highest quality possible. The purpose of the Cook 1, Cook 2 or Cook 3 is to provide accurate, timely and delicious meals. As a Cook at PMC, the Cook has the opportunity to showcase a range of cooking techniques - including roasting, broiling, sauteing, grilling, baking pastries, sauce creation, and cold food preparation. Attention to detail in every dish created perfection in presentation and taste is a must. PMC strives to meet residents' nutritional, dietary, and allergen needs in compliance with Federal, State and Local requirements while using high quality, fresh ingredients.

Responsibilities
  • Use of culinary experience to follow menus and prepare dishes
  • Organize duties to complete tray service in a timely manner
  • Assure kitchen equipment and surfaces are clean and sanitized according to Dietary procedures
  • Store food in compliance with Dietary procedures
Qualifications for All Cooks
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions, communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic
  • Prefer two (2) years of experience as a cook in healthcare, hotel, restaurant, club or similar institution
  • Ability to understand measurements and conversions
  • Ability to plan and organize work, to interpret instructions, recipes, specifications, and standards
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment
  • Must be to able to pass a State of Alaska Background Check and drug screen (including Marijuana)
Qualifications for Cook 1
  • Requires a Food Handlers Card
  • Receives on-the-job training regarding cooking skills
Qualifications for Cook 2
  • Requires ServSafe Certification and Food Handlers Card
  • Requires Cook 1 level experience / training
Qualifications for Cook 3
  • Requires culinary training (example: University of Alaska Culinary Course for Enthusiasts) - to include knife skills, cutting techniques, cooking techniques, culinary terminology, equipment identification, and ability to read recipes and understand substitutions or equivalent
  • Requires Cook level 2 training / experience / Certification
Physical Demands
  • Work requires standing for most of the shift. Includes lifting, bending, squatting, reaching, and carrying heavy items (up to 50 pounds)
  • Handles and manipulates equipment, assists in the preparation of food
Work Environment
  • Works in a clean, well-lit, and ventilated kitchen. Loud noises and temperature variations are normal
  • Normal kitchen hazards, i.e., potential for cuts, burns, etc.
