Position Summary
We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Healthcare Biller to join our team. The Healthcare Biller will be responsible for accurately billing and processing medical claims, resolving billing discrepancies, and ensuring timely reimbursement from insurance companies.
Responsibilities
- Review and verify the accuracy of patient demographic and insurance information.
- Prepare and submit electronic and paper claims to insurance companies.
- Follow-up on unpaid and denied claims and appeal if necessary.
- Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers to resolve billing issues.
- Post payments and adjustments to patient accounts.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.
Reports to: Business Office Manager
Supervises: None
Qualifications & Education
- Proven experience as a Healthcare Biller and Medical Biller.
- Knowledge of medical billing software and electronic billing systems.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, CPT and ICD-10 coding.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Certification in medical billing and coding is preferred.
- Must be able to pass a State of Alaska Background Check and drug screen (including Marijuana).
Working Conditions
This position is typically performed in an office setting within a healthcare facility. Remote work is a consideration.
