Healthcare Data Analyst

Summary
Petersburg Medical Center is seeking a part time Health Data Analyst to join our Information Technology team. The role is essential in supporting the hospital's data-driven decision-making processes. The Healthcare Data Analyst will collect, analyze, and report on clinical, financial, and operational data to improve patient outcomes, enhance efficiency, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative departments to understand data needs and deliver actional insights.
  • Extract, clean, and analyze data from electronic health records (EHR), financial systems, and other sources.
  • Design and generate reports, dashboards, and visualizations to support decision-making and performance improvement.
  • Monitor data quality and ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity of datasets.
  • Assist with data submission for regulatory reporting and compliance requirements (e.g. Medicare, Medicaid, UDS reports).
  • Identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improving patient care and operational performances.
  • Provide technical support and training to staff on data tools and reporting solutions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related field (Data Analytics, Healthcare Administration, Computer Science, or equivalent).
  • Experience in data analysis, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Excel, and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar).
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems, particularly Cerner, Epic, Meditech is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Provide technical support and training to staff on data tools and reporting solutions.
  • Must be able to pass a State of Alaska background check and a drug screen (including Marijuana).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of healthcare data standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, HEDIS, UDS).
  • Experience with healthcare reporting and data extraction tools.
  • Understanding of quality improvement initiatives in clinical settings.
Working Conditions
  • Part time (15 - 20 hours per week) with flexible scheduling options.
  • Work to be performed onsite at PMC.
