Self-Help Enterprises has an immediate opening for an Accounting Technician-Payroll. Our service area is comprised of nine counties – Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, and Tulare County – in the heart of the San Joaquin Valley, the world’s most productive agricultural area.
As an Accounting Technician in Payroll, you will support programs in a large non-profit organization through payroll processing for approximately 250 employees and some specific program accounting, including general accounting and specific payroll support for semi-monthly processing, benefit administration, and reporting in an increasingly complex organization. As an Accounting Technician, you will maintain high accuracy levels and confidentiality. You should be detail-oriented and comfortable working with spreadsheets, accounting software, journal entries, and trial balances. You should also be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing and be comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Administrate payroll and benefits.
- Conduct general program accounting.
- Process, sort, code, and post data while maintaining records.
- Prepare and file reports.
- Communicate with staff, partners, and vendors.
- Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
- Experience with Excel and accounting software.
- Office work experience.
- Entry-level accounts payable and accounting skills.
- Experience with double-entry accounting, journal entries, and trial balances.
- AA or AS in accounting/business or finance or commensurate education and experience.
