Brief Duties and Responsibilities: This position is responsible for professional planning, administrative oversight, funding, and evaluation of human services programs in Walla Walla County using best practices and activities with a data driven approach to develop system changes. Designated human services include homeless housing, substance use prevention, suicide prevention, veteran’s services, behavioral health, and others as assigned. This position will develop, coordinate, and monitor a county behavioral health strategic plan in coordination with relevant stakeholder groups and provide oversight in the development and evaluation of the Walla Walla County 5-Year Homeless Housing plan, as well as methods to collaborate with community entities that hold roles related to delivering on outcomes in both instances. Responsible for evaluating state and federal legislation to determine impacts on human services programs and services within the county. Establish relevant community forums to ensure robust and ongoing dialogue between system leaders and people who use these systems. Oversee the development of Requests for Application process related to the above-mentioned plans and supported through local and state funding managed the division. Provide oversight in the management of all subgrantees that receive funds managed by the division. Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises division programs and division staff. May supervise additional staff/programs as needed and/or appropriate.
Working Environment/Physical Abilities: Requires manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate a personal computer and peripherals. Ability to drive a vehicle, fly in an airplane and travel as required.
Ability to lift and carry 25-30 (twenty-five to thirty) pounds. Ability to work with multi-cultured, multi-lingual, and disabled individuals and families.
Minimum Qualifications: Education And Experience: Bachelor’s degree in business or public administration, one of the social sciences or other field directly related to human services PLUS, five (5) years’ experience in a public health, behavioral health or social service setting. At least two (2) years of supervisory experience is required. A master’s degree in a health- related or business field is a preferred. Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities may be accepted. Licenses And Other Requirements: Proof of degree copy of diploma.
Valid driver’s License. Provide documentation of immunization status, proof of immunity to vaccine preventable diseases, or sign an exemption and participate in the employee health program.
Must successfully pass a background check and a driving record check. Bi-lingual Spanish – English is desirable.
